We are thrilled to announce that on September 1, 2023, Maejo University and the University of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences (UAES) in Imo State signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in Owerri, the Imo State capital. The Imo State Government invited Maejo University, which was established in 1934, to partner with UAES, established in 2019. The NIDO Thailand Chapter played a vital role in facilitating this significant agreement.
Both Parties agree to encourage collaboration in the listed fields below, subject to availability of funds:
1. Information exchange and development of specific cooperative programs and projects in areas not limited to improved livestock (fisheries, poultry production and processing, et cetera) and hybrid crops and such crops may include different varieties of oil palm, rubber, maize, cassava, rice, among other crops as the need arise.
2. Commercialisation of innovation from UAES and creation of enterprises
3. Linking UAES to relevant academic networks and professional associations
4. Training of our local farmers as may be nominated by UAES
5. Engaging in collaborative research, especially in relation to the development and production of organic fertilizers.
6. Linkages and exchange programs between MJU and UAES staff
7. Consultative meetings and personnel visits between both institutions.
8. Offer of Scholarships to students of UAES
9. Inclusion of results of collaborative activities, either in full or in summary, in MJU and UAES reports, in accordance with Article nine.
